About me

I’m 55 years old and I was born in Livorno, a small town on the sea, in Tuscany, Italy.

I have a degree in Natural Science at the University of Pisa. When I was seventeen I met a boy in my school who became some years later my husband and the father of my two wonderful child, Andrea, 26 years old and Cecilia, 22 years old and all them are the center of my life.

I’ve ever had a great passion for handmade world, and it takes origin by my father and my grandma.

I began to sew when I was a child, sewing clothes for dolls, then with the help of my grandmother I sew some clothes for me and then my marriage dress, it’s been a dress sewn by four hands and for me is the most beautiful dress int the world.

When Cecilia was born I begun to sew little clothes for her and so…..many years later  Cecibirbona would be born …Ceci-birbona ….Ceci is the short name for Cecilia and birbona is the Italian for nice roguish, as all daughters are.

Cecibirbona’s world is made of clothes thought for kids, comfortable and sweet, romantic or funny, as they are in my mind. Sometimes they looks just come out from a fairy tale.

My sewing has the flavor of handmade things, of all artisans and artist I met in San Frediano, in Firenze, Tuscany, their care of materials, the quality of well done things.

I love to use natural fabrics and and as possible, vintage materials.

I’ve searched patterns and stylings of vintage clothes because my taste looks to traditions and history of my country, a style beautiful, comfortable, with an artisan flavor.

I began to realize clothes for children but early I began to sew even for their mothers and during last years I began to sew for people that like me have the passion for cooking, so it was born Ceciborbona In the Kitchen.

I sew aprons, pinafores made of real vintage woven loom cottons and linen that I buy in brocante markets in Tuscany and give them a new life into the kitchen of my customers all over the world.

Surely my style is the synthesis between the love for handmade things with care and passion, nature, ancient taste and past time.

Cecibirbona… perché Cecilia è mia figlia e come tutte le figlie è il mio tesoro, ma anche la mia birbona, come diciamo a Firenze.

I vestitini della collezione Cecibirbona sono interamente cuciti da me, proprio come facevo per lei, quando era piccola. Seleziono le stoffe, comprandone piccoli quantitativi,  privilegiando l’originalità e la qualità delle stesse, creo i modelli che rispecchiano i miei gusti, quelli che si trovavano nel suo guardaroba e che lei si metteva più volentieri.

Sono cuciti come si faceva una volta, uno per uno, con amore ed attenzione, per questo sono lontani dalla moda del momento, per i bimbi di ogni tempo.

 Ogni vestitino, grembiule, cappellino o costume è sempre un po’ diverso dagli altri, perché ogni bambino o bambina è unico.

Mi piace vestire i bambini da bambini, sono quindi abitini comodi, perché devono poter giocare in libertà, ma ovviamente non si tralascia mai l’aspetto estetico, che strizza l’occhio al passato. Hanno spesso infatti linee ampie, con romantiche arricciature e rouche dal sapore retrò.

Il mio amore per la natura e i miei studi passati si traducono invece in fiori e bouquet colorati fatti di cotone o lana, che io stessa realizzo cucendo insieme piccolo ritagli di tessuto, e che ornano colletti e corpini. Essi sono l’elemento che più caratterizza i miei abiti e i miei grembiulini per la scuola.

È una linea di abiti dedicata a Ceci, mia figlia, perché tutto nacque dai vestitini che iniziai a cucire per lei quando era piccolina.

E lei resta ancora adesso che è grande, la mia musa ispiratrice e la mia fidata consigliera. Da lei nasce il nome Cecibirbona e il logo è un suo autoritratto di bambina. Tutto fatto in famiglia insomma.

E successivamente, dall’amore per la cucina, è nata anche Cecibirbona InCucina, con i miei grembiuli e abiti da cucina, realizzati prevalentemente con tessuti antichi. Anche questi hanno linee morbide e ampie, sono impreziositi da fiocchi, tascone e rouche.
